Boston Young Contemporaries

I am excited to announce that two of my large maps were accepted into the Boston Young Contemporaries exhibit this summer. The opening reception will be on Friday, July 26th and the exhibit will be up through the end of August. While these maps already feel kind of old (being from last semester), I am still very excited to be showing them. Now to solve the problem of framing and transporting such large pieces...

Title inspiration comes from several of Rebecca Solnit's books, links in my current reading list on the right of this page.

and some more

walking traces printing experiments

Another experiment of the walking project, same layers that I posted the other day, this time printed on transparency film. The film is more transparent than the tracing paper, but also more solid (it feels like plastic). Not sure which I prefer at this point.

4 layers laying flat on the ground

4 layers held up against the window. The colors are a bit off in this image, there is a tree just outside my window that turned the transparent layers a bit more green than I would have liked.

Slow Progress

Here are two test images of a new project. I have been playing with images taken on walks that I later layer. Instead of making the layers digitally I tried printing them on transparent paper, to see how each part interacts with the others. The first of these two is held up against a window, the second is laying down. I might have to start building light boxes!

I am making slow progress with the animation, more examples of that will follow soon.
